First-Year Freshman
You’re a first-year student if you’re applying for the academic year right after high school or haven’t attended college since graduating. This is the start of an exciting journey where you’ll grow, make friends, and discover new interests. Start building your future at Utah Tech!
Incoming Non-resident freshmen may also apply through the Common Application.

Transfer
A transfer student is someone who is currently enrolled at or has previously attended another college and now wants to continue their education at UT. We offer resources such as transfer credit evaluations, prior learning, academic advising, and scholarships to support your transition and success.

Online
For students taking classes online, UT offers flexible, fully online programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and certificate levels, designed to help you balance education with your other commitments. Whether you’re earning your degree, advancing your career, or completing your studies, you can do so from the comfort of home at Utah’s #1 most affordable university.

Returning
A returning student is someone who previously attended Utah Tech University, took a break for more than three semesters, and wants to return to continue their education. Returning students must submit an application, meet re-admission requirements, and may need to provide updated transcripts or documentation. UT provides the support and resources needed to get you back on track.

International
International students at Utah Tech embrace new experiences and personal growth while studying away from home. UT offers a supportive, inclusive community where students from around the world can connect and excel both academically and personally. More than just a place to study, UT is a home where every achievement is celebrated.
Incoming International freshmen may also apply through the Common Application.

Graduate
A graduate student has earned an undergraduate degree and is pursuing an advanced degree such as a master’s, specialist, or doctorate at a UT. Graduate students deepen their expertise in a specific field through advanced coursework, research, and hands on experience, preparing for leadership roles, specialized careers, or academic pursuits.

Non-Degree Seeking
Non-degree-seeking students take one or more courses for college credit without pursuing a degree. This includes HB 60 students (Utah residents 62+), who enroll in courses at a reduced rate on a space-available basis. Utah Tech welcomes those seeking new skills, completing prerequisites, or exploring interests. Non-degree-seeking students must apply but do not need to meet standard admission requirements.
