Dear Trailblazers,
As the beginning of the fall semester quickly approaches, all of us here at Dixie State University are excited to welcome you to campus. We have missed you throughout this period of remote learning and are thrilled to announce that with safety precautions in place, we are preparing to host classes on campus during the fall semester using an alternating in-person and interactive live stream format.
While holding classes during these unprecedented times necessitates that the University takes extra measures, it also requires our outstanding students to demonstrate their strength of character and practice an increased dedication to learning. We know you are up to the challenge. Recognizing the value of active learning experiences, we are confident that going above and beyond the call of duty to meet on campus when possible will be worth the effort. We are working hard to prepare for you and appreciate your patience with us as we work through any challenges that may arise throughout your first week of classes.
We understand that there are many uncertainties surrounding the fall semester, and we will do our best to answer all your questions. As you know, national, state, and local guidelines for safeguarding against COVID-19 are constantly being revised and updated. We are staying up to date with all guidelines and, consequently, campus plans may change if current guidelines are updated.
The health and safety of the campus community are always our top priority, so we are implementing a number of precautions that must be followed on campus. For example, safe physical distancing should be practiced when on campus and facial coverings should be worn at all times inside University buildings and when physical distancing cannot be maintained in outdoor campus spaces.
Please familiarize yourself with the information below and frequently monitor Canvas, where instructors will share important updates and information about fall classes. If you have any questions about classes, please reach out to the Academic Advisement Center at advisement@utahtech.edu. For more information about campus life, contact the Dean of Students Office at 435-652-7514.
We recognize your commitment to learning and appreciate your patience and understanding as we blaze new trails. By working together, we will make this a semester full of meaningful learning experiences.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael Lacourse, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
Del Beatty, Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students
