I chose to be a trailblazer because I love the Active Learning, Active Life motto! When I first visited the campus, I felt welcomed by the students, staff, and community. I saw many opportunities for me to grow and knew I would be surrounded by like-minded people who would push me to accomplish my goals.

I love to spend time with my friends, play sports, work out, listen to music, all while enjoying the beautiful St. George location!

I chose to become a trailblazer to pursue my undergraduate degree in biomedical science. And the last 3 years I have been loving the environment and distance from home as well.

I chose to be a Trailblazer because they had big school opportunities with ideally smaller classes. My professors and faculty genuinely care about me and my success. It is an honor to be graduating from Utah Tech this year debt free.
Hobbies:
I love spending time with the ambassadors and others I have met here in St. George. I enjoy going hiking, swimming, and doing any other activity under the sun.

Why I came to Utah Tech:
I decided to come to Utah Tech because I wanted a school that felt like a home. I love the community I have here and I have grown so much personally and professionally being a Trailblazer.
Hobbies:
I am a homebody and I love to bake a treat and watch movies. I also love boating/swimming in the summer with my family. Sometimes I scroll through Zillow and look at houses in my free time.

I chose to become a trailblazer because I fell in love with the school the second I got here. The weather is always super nice, the campus is beautiful, and the students are all such good people. I was at a point with the college process where I didn’t really know what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go, but once I made the trip down here to see the campus I knew this is where I needed to be. Another big part of my decision to come to school here is because of the ambassadors, so getting the chance to do that for others is such an amazing opportunity!
Hobbies:
I love playing and watching sports, listening to music and going to concerts, and hanging out with friends. You might also catch me lifting heavy weights at the gym.

I chose to become a trailblazer because I absolutely love the vision of the school. As an engineer major, it’s a must to have hands on learning to succeed. Also,!coming from Hawai’i i didn’t want to deal with cold, snowy weather and lucky for me St. George has great weather all year long.

Becoming a Trailblazer was the best fit for me! I love the tight knit feel that the campus and student body has. I feel like Utah Tech has set me up for so many opportunities for the real world past just my education. Plus who doesn’t love St. George?!

I was sick of the cold weather and snow and wanted to get away from where I grew up to start my own life with my friends. Utah Tech was the perfecting landing spot for everything I was looking for! I love learning through doing and the hands on style that is offered here on campus. Plus, the amazing lifestyle that is offered by all the adventures around St. George is exactly what I am looking to get out of life.

When I am not studying, I love spending time with my family, going on dates with my wife, watching crazy Netflix documentaries, and playing Pickleball!

I love Utah Tech University, and I want nothing more than to share that same love and passion with others. Working with other people has always been something I enjoy as well, and I look forward to being just one small impact in someone’s experience at Utah Tech University!

When I think of hobbies, the first thing that comes to mind in sports! I love to play pickleball, tennis, volleyball, and golf! Outside of playing sports, you’ll see me at the bowling alley with friends, or playing the guitar and piano.

Why I came to Utah Tech:
Whenever someone asks me why a guy from Bolivia is here at Utah Tech, I always answer the same: I chose to become a Trailblazer because I genuinely feel identified with the ideology of being a pioneer, willing to take risks exploring new horizons for others to follow. I can gladly affirm that joining this university, and especially this program, is the best decision I have ever made in my entire life

"Hello, everyone. My name is Leonardo Mendez, and I'm an international student from Bolivia. I am finishing my sophomore year with a major in Finance and minors in physics, accounting, and economics. My Biggest hobby is pretty uncommon, but I love every second of it. I genuinely find Joy in challenging myself. For example, I love reading scientific papers to be amazed at how small we are in this vast universe. I am passionate about discussing innovations or ideas to change the world. Creating entrepreneurship projects and then watching them improve people's lives. Lastly, Working-out experimenting with some concepts that I learn in class. So then I push myself until my body crumbles, rep by rep, and achieve muscle failure in every exercise. I don't know if you can call all this aclogomeration a hobby, but it is something that genuinely puts a smile on my face, and I guess that's the whole point of a hobby."

Why I came to Utah Tech:
For as long as I could remember I wanted to leave Utah for college, but once the time came to decide on a school, I realized how expensive that would actually be. Utah Tech was the closest I could get to being out of the state… without having to pay out-of-state tuition. I had spent quite a bit of time in St. George growing up and I had always liked the area, so I decided to give it a shot and I have absolutely LOVED it ever since! I never realized how much I could love college. Utah Tech is the best!
Hobbies:
I graduated from cosmetology school before coming to Utah Tech, so I love to do people’s hair!! I love being able to help others feel comfortable and confident in themselves! Besides that, I absolutely love to travel and I’m pretty much constantly trying to plan my next trip! I love skiing, reading, boating, paddle boarding, and spending as much time as possible with friends and family! I’m also obsessed with music and movies… I will talk with you about a good movie for days!!! ;)
