What is ‘Blazer Blast?

‘Blazer Blast is an overnight experience for current high school juniors and seniors to have an opportunity to see what college life is like here at Utah Tech University. Students will have the chance to participate in activities with our Student Association, hear from the Deans of the Colleges, learn about admissions and resources and more. *This experiences does not replace any New Student Trailblazer Orientation requirements*

A Day In the Life of a Student

By attending ‘Blazer Blast, you’ll get a chance to experience what it’s like to be a student at Utah Tech University. You’ll also get to meet and make friends with other students looking to attend Utah Tech. It’s an awesome weekend filled with fun activities, interactive presentations, food, and more!

Friday Schedule

5:00 PM Check-in/ Registration Begins

5:45 PM Student Welcome
Students are introduced to our Student Ambassador and separated into groups for their campus tour

Parent Tour & Info Session
Parents, guardians, and/or advisors are given a brief tour of campus separate from their students.

Following the tour, parents have the opportunity to sit in on an info session with a panel of representatives from our Admissions, Scholarships, Student Success, and Housing Offices.

8:00 PM Dinner for Students
Aside from snacks being provided throughout ‘Blazer Blast, students are fed a fully catered dinner. All dietary needs will be accommodated for.

During dinner student attendees will have the chance to interact with our student ambassadors, others they met at the ‘Blazer Blast, as well as participate in a student activity led by our Utah Tech Student Association. There’s even a chance for attendees to win some cool UT prizes and swag!

9:00 PM Open Recreation
For ‘Blazer Blast, we reserve our entire Human Performance Center for this incredible night.

Students have the options to conquer the tallest indoor rock climbing wall for a university in the state, hangout in our Esports gaming lab, play basketball, pickleball, volleyball, and soccer on our indoor and outdoor courts, dance on our rooftop, and many more exciting games and activities*

*Some activities in the Human Performance Center require additional waivers and parental/guardian permission before participating.

11:30 PM Prep For Bedtime
Midnight Lights Out
Students spend the night on provided air-mattresses inside of our Human Performance Center.* Students should make sure to bring an overnight bag with appropriate hygiene and sleeping materials

*Males and Females are separated onto separate floors while sleeping.

Saturday Schedule

8:00 AM Breakfast
Students are fed a fully catered breakfast. All dietary needs will be accommodated for.
9:00 AM Student Information Session
Students will have the opportunity to hear from various speakers from across campus including an important discussion on mental health and leaving home from our on-campus Booth Wellness Center.
10:00 AM Academic Breakout Sessions
Students will have the opportunity of learning more about the degrees they may be interested in studying while in college. To do this, students will be able to attend two breakout sessions of their choice.

Breakout sessions will be hosted by the Dean and/or Department Chairs from each of our 6 academic colleges: Arts, Business, Education, Health Sciences, Humanities & Social Science, and Science, Engineering, & Technology; as well as an additional option for those who may not know exactly what they want to study.

Noon Final Q&A
12:30 PM Our Weekend Together Is Over

*Our university’s campus is consistently ranked in the top 50 safest campuses in the US; and our University Police has been ranked the 3rd best campus police department in the US. Each current and prospective student’s safety, as well as that of any visitor, is of the upmost importance when hosting any event on campus. Campus security and a sufficient number of staff will be present on campus at all times during each ‘Blazer Blast.
