'Blazer Blast

What is ‘Blazer Blast?

‘Blazer Blast is an overnight experience for high school juniors and seniors to get a true feel for college life at Utah Tech University. Students will participate in activities with our Student Association, explore academic programs and interests, discover campus resources, and enjoy a variety of fun, interactive experiences.

Note: This experience does not replace any New Student Trailblazer Orientation requirements.

A Day In the Life of a Student

At ‘Blazer Blast, you’ll get a true taste of what it’s like to be a student at Utah Tech University. Explore campus life, participate in fun and interactive activities, enjoy great food, and connect with other students who are excited to join the Blazer community. It’s a weekend full of energy, experiences, and new friendships you won’t want to miss!

Friday Schedule

5:00 PM Check-in/ Registration Begins

5:45 PM Student Welcome
Students will meet our Student Ambassadors and be organized into small groups for a guided campus tour.

Parent/Guardian Tour & Info Session
Parents, guardians, and advisors will enjoy a separate, brief campus tour while their students explore. After the tour, they can attend an informative session featuring a panel of representatives from Admissions, Scholarships, Student Success, and Housing, where they can ask questions and learn more about supporting their student’s college experience.

8:00 PM Dinner for Students
In addition to snacks provided throughout ‘Blazer Blast, students will enjoy a fully catered dinner with all dietary needs accommodated. During dinner, students can take part in a fun, interactive activity led by our Student Association alongside the Student Body President, offering a firsthand look at the energy and excitement of campus events.
9:00 PM Open Recreation
We reserve our entire Human Performance Center (HPC) for this incredible night. Students can challenge themselves on the tallest indoor rock climbing wall at any university in the state, jump into games of basketball, pickleball, volleyball, or soccer on our indoor and outdoor courts, dance under the stars on our rooftop, and enjoy plenty of other exciting activities throughout the space.

*Some activities in the Human Performance Center require additional waivers and parental/guardian permission prior to participation.

11:30 PM Prep For Lights out
Midnight Lights Out
Students will enjoy a unique overnight experience inside our Human Performance Center. To stay comfortable, students should bring an overnight bag with personal hygiene items and any sleeping essentials they may need.

Note: For everyone’s safety and peace of mind, male and female students will stay on separate floors, with Ambassador staff and Campus Police on duty and monitoring the space throughout the night.

Saturday Schedule

8:00 AM Breakfast
Students are fed a fully catered breakfast. All dietary needs will be accommodated for.
9:00 AM Campus Life Games
Students will take part in a fun campus-life game that highlights the activities, events, and traditions Utah Tech students enjoy. It’s a fast, interactive way to experience the energy of campus and see just how engaging and memorable life at Utah Tech can be.
10:00 AM Academic and Campus Resource Fair
Discover what’s possible. At the Academic and Campus Resource Fair, students can explore majors they’re curious about and connect directly with the people and resources that support success in college. Meet representatives from all seven academic colleges and key campus departments, ask questions, and gather helpful information. Along the way, learn how our learn by doing approach builds real-world skills and prepares students for career readiness from day one.

12:00 PM We say goodbye to the weekend

*Our university’s campus is consistently ranked in the top 50 safest campuses in the US; and our University Police has been ranked the 3rd best campus police department in the US. Each current and prospective student’s safety, as well as that of any visitor, is of the upmost importance when hosting any event on campus. Campus security and a sufficient number of staff will be present on campus at all times during each ‘Blazer Blast.
