Welcome Back Picnic

President and First Lady Smeed invite you to join them for their Welcome Back Picnic, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Human Performance Center (HPC).

This long-standing tradition, welcomes back our faculty and staff in celebration of the upcoming school year.

Bring your family and enjoy dinner, swim, games, collect SWAG and prizes, as well as the annual t-shirt!

HPC Waivers

Before you can start participating in the action, all attendees who plan to swim, climb the wall, use the inflatable attractions, or participate in Campus Rec games must complete an HPC event waiver. Skip the waiver line at check-in by completing it beforehand at the link below.

If your organization is interested in having a booth presence please fill out the form below. The event will take place on August 12th from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Utah Tech University’s HPC on the 2nd floor!

Schedule of Events

The annual welcome back picnic is open to all faculty, staff, and their families. The Human Performance Center will be open to everyone from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. including swimming and the rock wall.

5 p.m.

Human Performance Center Opens

The Human Performance Center will be open to all faculty, staff, and their families. The rock-climbing wall and pool will open; however, all non-employees must fill out a waiver. Booths and games will open.

Dinner is Served & Handing Out of T-Shirts Begins

Dinner will be provided during the event. This year we will be serving traditional backyard picnic-style foods. Don’t forget to pick up this year’s cup at the drink station.

The annual t-shirt will be handed out on the second floor of the HPC. There is a limit of 1 t-shirt per attendee and guests must be present to get a shirt.

7:30 p.m.

Booths, T-shirts, & Dinner Close

In consideration of young families with Washington County School District starting the next day, the HPC pool, rock climbing wall, and other activities in the HPC will close at 7:30 p.m., along with the booths.

*Please note that all SWAG and t-shirts are only available for those in attendance and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
