Community Engaged Learning

OVERVIEW

The Community Engaged Learning Impact Area empowers students to make a meaningful difference by applying classroom knowledge to real-world community needs. Through hands-on projects and partnerships with local organizations, students develop valuable interpersonal and career-ready skills, gain practical experience in their field, and create a lasting impact in the communities they serve. Every experience reflects Utah Tech’s commitment to active learning. active life.

What We Do

We create meaningful opportunities for students to apply what they learn in the classroom while making a positive impact in the community. Through partnerships with local organizations, students gain real-world experience, strengthen career-ready skills, and discover how their knowledge can make a difference.

Examples of Community Engaged Learning experiences include:

  • Biology students supporting projects at a local botanical garden
  • Art students designing and painting a mural in a public park
  • Accounting students assisting low-income residents with tax preparation

Students can also participate in campus-wide engagement opportunities such as:

  • Service Saturday – Volunteer alongside fellow students on meaningful community service projects.
  • Nonprofit Fair – Connect with local nonprofit organizations to discover volunteer opportunities, internships, and ways to make an impact.

Every experience helps students build professional skills, strengthen community partnerships, and live out Utah Tech’s commitment to active learning. active life.
