Our Mission
Arts in Action provides support and learning opportunities that will help teachers increase the quality and quantity of arts instruction and integration in elementary schools through:
- Providing workshops that model innovation and best practices in arts integration for grade-level classroom teachers and fine arts teachers.
- Mentoring BTSArts teachers in Washington and Kane Counties.
- Facilitating opportunities for local teachers and pre-service teachers to offer community-based arts projects/events for children.
- Delivering active learning arts education courses to elementary education majors and music majors at UT.
UT is honored and grateful to be the recipient of an endowment from the Sorenson Legacy Foundation for an endowed professorial chair in elementary arts education. We are also fortunate to receive funding to provide professional learning opportunities in the arts and arts integration through a Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program Professional Learning Grant.
We serve elementary schools, pre-service teachers, in-service educators, and community members throughout Washington and Kane Counties in developing and celebrating arts in education.
In cooperation with the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Elementary Arts Learning Program, Art Works for Kids!, the Utah Division of Arts and Museums, the UT Art Museum & Gallery, and the Utah State Board of Education, Arts in Action provides teachers and their students with quality arts experiences.
