115th Commencement Ceremonies

If you are graduating with any associate degree, attend the ceremony at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6.

If you are graduating with a bachelor’s or master’s degree from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences or the College of the Arts, attend the 2 p.m. ceremony on Wednesday, May 6.

If you are graduating with a bachelor’s or master’s degree from the College of Health Sciences or the College of Education, attend the 9 a.m. ceremony on Thursday, May 7.

If you are graduating with a bachelor’s or master’s degree from the College of Science, Engineering & Technology or the College of Business, attend the 2 p.m. ceremony on Thursday, May 7.

Please be sure to check the full Schedule of Events to know when to line up or be seated for each ceremony.

Tickets will be not required to attend the 2026 Commencement Ceremonies. However, if the M. Anthony Burns Arena hits capacity, there will be overflow seating available in the Eccles Mainstage Theater, where the ceremonies will be live streamed. We encourage graduates to bring no more than 8 guests since space is limited.

To show respect for all participants, graduates should not leave until their ceremony concludes. Commencement has been split into smaller ceremonies to shorten the length of each event.

All participants are required to wear their caps and gowns. Tassels should be worn on the right side and will be moved to the left upon graduation.

All graduating students need to pick up their caps, gowns, honors regalia, and/or graduate hoods at the Grad Fair. Regalia will not be shipped to students. If graduates are unable to attend during the scheduled times below, they may send a representative in their place. The representative will need the graduate’s mailing address, email address, and height for gown size and know if the graduate is graduating with an associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree and if the graduate is receiving honors.

All student regalia is purchased as part of the graduation application, so once regalia is picked up, it is yours to keep. The deadline for bachelor’s degrees to register for Spring 2026 Commencement is November 1st, 2025. The deadline for associate degrees and master’s degrees to register for the Spring 2026 Commencement is February, 1, 2026.

Honors regalia will be available at the Grad Fair. Spring 2026 honors graduates are recognized based on their Fall 2025 GPA. Your transcript will reflect any honors you have earned based on your final GPA at graduation. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility, email graduation@utahtech.edu.

Individual department and program cords and stoles are distributed by the individual organization. Please contact the program or organization who provide individual regalia for information on where you can pick up department and program cords and stoles.

The Grad Fair, where graduates will receive a gift from the UT Alumni Association, enjoy snacks, and have the opportunity to purchase Utah Tech memorabilia from the Campus Store booth and join the Alumni Association, takes place at the Stephen & Marcia Wade Alumni House on the following days:

• Monday May 4, 2026 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Tuesday May 5, 2026 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Yes, graduating students are welcome to borrow a cap and gown at no cost for up to two days. To request a cap and gown, please complete this form. There is no need to wait for a confirmation response. Once the form is submitted, visit the Alumni House (684 E. 500 South), Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to check out your rental robe. Please note that rental gowns do not include a tassel, as tassels will be provided when you pick up your official graduation regalia at the Grad Fair on April 29 through May 1.

PLEASE NOTE: Rentals are only available for pickup through April 27th (with a return date by Thursday, April 30th).

Yes, your cap dimensions will be 9 1/2 inches square. Since your cap will not be available until the Grad Fair the week of Commencement, you can create your masterpiece on a piece of card stock ahead of time.

Graduates will receive a complimentary diploma cover at their Commencement Ceremony. For those unable to attend the ceremony, please email commencement@utahtech.edu to arrange for a diploma cover to be mailed to you.

The actual diploma will be mailed to graduates six to eight weeks after the end of the semester. If you have questions about your actual diploma, please email graduation@utahtech.edu

A limited amount of accessible seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests may bring up to one companion with them to accessible seating. Additionally, limited seating will be available for hard-of-hearing and deaf guests in section 110, where American Sign Language interpreters will be interpreting the ceremony.

All UT parking lots are open and free to park in during the 115th Commencement Ceremonies. Spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. A campus map is available here. Please be sure to only park in designated parking stalls and locations.

Although Utah Tech does not anticipate any security issues during the ceremony, we will monitor all events to protect the safety and security of our guests. The University’s Clear Bag Policy will be in affect, which prohibits opaque bags larger than 7.5″ x 5″ x 2″ (other than diaper bags), clear bags larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″, and other prohibited items. Please be sure you are familiar with the policy. All bags will be subject to a visual inspection by university personnel.

Due to our Clear Bag Policy, all boxed or wrapped items of any size are prohibited and will not be allowed in the arena.

No, balloons, signs, noisemakers, and similar items are not allowed at Commencement. For a full list of prohibited items, see our Clear Bag Policy.

If you are not able to attend the Commencement Ceremonies, but would still like to support your graduate, you can watch via live stream. We will have the live stream links available on the Commencement home page a few weeks before the ceremony dates. The ceremony recordings will remain available after Commencement.

Spring is a busy time in St. George with a lot of special events taking place. Accommodations tend to fill up early, so be sure to plan in advance.

Custom graduation announcements are not available through Utah Tech, but can be ordered on your own.

Gifts and UT memorabilia can be purchased at the campus store, located on the second floor of the Gardner Student Center. The campus store will also have items available for purchase the day of commencement on the east side of the M. Anthony Burns Arena.

The esteemed position of University Commencement Grand Marshal is held by the faculty member with the longest tenure at Utah Tech University. This role is central to the commencement ceremony, with the Grand Marshal leading the academic procession, ceremonially opening the exercises, and bringing them to a close. Recognized as the highest faculty honor on our campus, this role exemplifies the highest level of commitment and contribution to the university’s academic community. This position is selected by the University Provost.

To order your new “keeper or economy” caps, hoods, and/or gowns please fill out this form. The University pays for these orders and staff and faculty members who have previously ordered regalia are asked to use their existing regalia. Please order your items by the end of the day on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. We do not purchase fine quality doctoral gowns, hoods, or tams. Staff and faculty may purchase these items on their own. At Utah Tech University, Commencement Marshals are essential to the ceremonial heart of graduation, ensuring the event unfolds with grace and precision. Distinguished faculty and dedicated staff come together to lead and support our graduates in this momentous rite of passage. These faculty are leaders in their college and represent the values and commitment to student success found in their academic area.

A full rehearsal will take place on the Tuesday, May 5th prior to commencement at 1:00 p.m. in the M. Anthony Burns Arena. Marshals should meet at the Encampment Mall west of the Gardner Center.

The University would like to invite Staff members to serve as University Ushers during the Commencement Ceremonies. These staff members are crucial to ensuring a smooth experience for all students, faculty, and attendees. Ushers will be placed inside the M. Antony Burns Arena to help guide participants, provide support to event staff, and create a smooth experience for all involved. We need 11 University Ushers for each ceremony. Requirements

Full-time Staff member of the University
Maintain order during the ceremony. Keep students seated, answer questions, guide individuals to where they need to need to go during the ceremony.
Maintain a friendly demeanor and customer service forward attitude.

Be able to stand for up to 2 hours
Attend Training – one hour prior to when doors open. Meet on the east side at the Ticket Office for instructions.
