Personalize Your College Journey

Students can participate in AL² and personalize your college journey by engaging in meaningful experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

Through the AL² program, you can:

  • Explore eligible AL² experiences and opportunities in the MyUT app.
  • Log and track participation across the eight AL² Impact Areas.
  • Earn AL² points that unlock digital badges, recognition pins, medallions, and other incentives as you engage in the Utah Tech’s polytechnic experience through immersive, hands-on learning.
  • Build meaningful connections, develop a strong sense of belonging, and thrive through intentional campus involvement.
  • Develop and demonstrate career-ready skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Competencies through a personalized Experiential Scorecard.
  • Create a comprehensive experiential record that showcases your involvement, achievements, and growth throughout your Utah Tech experience.
  • Graduate with more than a degree–leaving Utah Tech with the confidence, real-world experiences, and career-ready skills to clearly articulate your personal growth and demonstrate the value of your complete college experience.

Getting Started with AL²

Getting started with AL² is quick and easy:

  • Download the MyUT app (if it is not already installed).
  • Sign in using your Utah Tech credentials (D#@utahtech.edu).
  • Open the AL² widget from the My UT home screen.
  • Select “Check-In & View Activities” to discover eligible experiences and begin tracking involvement.

How to Check-In & Participate

Checking in is how you document your experiences, earn AL² points, and build your experiential record.

  • Open the MyUT app.
  • Select the AL² Widget.
  • Choose “Check-In & View Activities”.
  • Select the “Launch UT ID” to check in at participating events and activities.

Check-In with an Activity QR Code

  • Open the MyUT app.
  • Select the AL² Widget.
  • Choose “Check-In & View Activities”.
  • Select “Scan an Activity Code” and scan the event QR code.

Explore Opportunities

  • Search for activities to discover upcoming opportunities across campus.
  • Filter by Impact Area to find opportunities that align with individual interests and goals.
  • Every check-in counts. Each completed experience helps you earn AL² points, builds career-ready skills, builds your Scorecard, and makes meaningful progress throughout your Utah Tech journey.

Earn Points. Earn Recognition.

Every eligible AL² experience helps you grow your experiential record while earning points that recognize your involvement, achievement, and growth. Progress is automatically tracked in your MyUT app, making it easy for you to see how you are advancing throughout your Utah Tech experience. The app also allows you to gauge your participation and success in relation to your peers or selected filter groups.

Earn AL² Points

  • You earn points by participating in approved activities and events across the eight AL² Impact Areas. As points accumulate, you unlock recognition and rewards that celebrate your accomplishments.

AL² Point Level Guidelines

Earn Badges & Pins

Digital Badges

  • You can earn digital badges within each AL² Impact Area. Badge requirements are established by each Impact Area leader.
  • Completed badges are automatically added to your Student Scorecard.

Impact Area Pins

  • Earn 300 points within an Impact Area to receive the official AL² Impact Area recognition pin. You can earn up to eight pins–one for each AL² Impact Areas. Pins can be placed on hats, backpacks, lanyards, and can be worn during the Utah Tech Commencement Ceremony.
  • A digital certificate is automatically added to your AL² Student Scorecard when an Impact Area is completed.

Earn Medallions

Students who complete multiple AL² Impact Areas earn prestigious medallions recognizing their commitment to experiential learning and campus engagement.

  • Bronze Medallion–Complete 2 Impact Areas
  • Silver Medallion–Complete 4 Impact Areas
  • Gold Medallion–Complete 6 Impact Areas
  • Platinum Medallion–Complete 8 Impact Areas

Other Medallion Benefits

  • A personalized Letter of Recommendation from the Vice President of Student Affairs identifying your accomplishments and commitment to the Utah Tech experience is sent when a medallion is earned.
  • A digital certificate that can be added to your Suitable Student Scorecard and LinkedIn.
  • The opportunity to wear your highest earned AL² medallion during the Utah Tech Commencement Ceremony.
